The City of Springfield, MO Department of Environmental Services was created in July 2011, when the City divided Public Works into two departments. The Department of Environmental Services operates the regional wastewater utility as well as the Integrated Solid Waste Management System. The Department of Environmental Services protects the natural resources of our City and region for current and future generations by providing effective and efficient management of stormwater, wastewater and solid waste. The department maintains and operates over 1200 miles of sanitary collection system and 2 award-winning treatment plants.
