Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts

The Los Angeles (LA) County Sanitation Districts was created in 1923 and performs wastewater and solid waste management, and is focused on converting waste into resources. The agency provides wastewater service to about 5.5 million people and conveys 400 MGD through its 1,400 miles of sewer and 11 water treatment plants. The solid waste management system provides about one-fifth of LA County’s disposal needs and includes two landfills and two materials recovery facilities.
