OVERVIEW

Building on the previous sessions, Part 5 of our Smart Water Networks 101 series focuses on Layer 4: Data Management and Display, the layer where data is transformed into insight.

Layer 4 enables utilities to aggregate, process, and visualise data collected from across the network. It includes systems such as SCADA, GIS, and other data platforms that provide operators with a clear, real-time view of system performance to support decision-making.

This layer also plays a key role in ensuring data quality, integration, and accessibility, while connecting operational technologies with business systems such as work order management and customer information systems. It further interfaces with cybersecurity frameworks to support secure and reliable operations.

By turning data into actionable information, Layer 4 helps utilities move from reactive to proactive management, improving efficiency, resilience, and overall network performance.
